All smartphone companies have been working hard for their displays and started using the notch concept. Basically notch is specific bezel area for the front facing cameras and some hardware components while rests of the area remains bezelless. This concept was welcomed by some of the users where as some people found it irritating because it actually affects the videos and is like disturbance.So early notches were centered and less area remained bezelless . Heres what early notch looked like .This is a notch from iphone X which can be called as "Simple or Normal Notch".

As now the notch concept came to existence some of the brands tried to improve the notch and they concluded that only camera should be in the notch area and rest of the screen should be free.So

After this Honor (Huawei is parent company ) improved the notch experience with its hole punch concept which was located it the either side of the display. Some of the brands like Samsung.Nokia,Motorola also tried this type of notch .This is how a notch looks like in a honor view 20.
